IT Consulting & Strategy

Independent advice on what to build, buy or fix, so technology spending follows a plan instead of a vendor's pitch.

IT Consulting & Strategy

What does an IT consultant do for a business?

An IT consultant reviews how a business uses technology, identifies gaps, risks and wasted spend, and recommends what to build, buy, replace or retire. The work produces a clear IT roadmap, vendor and software recommendations and a plan for security, infrastructure and support that matches the size and goals of the business.

Technology decisions in a growing business are often made one at a time: a billing tool here, a CRM trial there, a server someone set up years ago. The result is overlapping software, renewals nobody tracks and systems that cannot talk to each other. Each decision looked sensible on its own.

We step back and look at the whole picture with you. Our advice is independent of any software vendor, so we can recommend a ready product when one fits, a custom build when it clearly pays off, or simply better use of tools you already pay for.

What a consulting engagement covers

We review your software, infrastructure, access controls, backups and support arrangements, and talk to the people who use them. You receive a written assessment that explains risks and gaps in plain language, a build-or-buy recommendation for each need, a shortlist of vendors with the questions to ask them, and a prioritised IT roadmap. If you want, we can also sit in on vendor demos and review contracts and proposals before you sign.

Questions about IT Consulting

No. Our recommendations are based on what fits your business. Often the right answer is a ready-made product, a configuration change or better training on a tool you already own. If custom development is the best option, we explain why, and you are free to choose any team to build it.

Yes. Some businesses are not ready for a full-time CTO or IT head but need someone senior to guide decisions. We can provide regular review meetings, vendor oversight and roadmap ownership on an ongoing basis, alongside your internal staff and existing suppliers.

You receive a written report with findings, risks ranked by impact, recommendations with reasons and a phased roadmap. We walk your leadership team through it in a meeting and answer questions. The report is written for business owners, not only for technical staff.

For most small and mid-sized businesses an assessment takes a few weeks, depending on the number of locations, systems and people we need to speak with. We agree the scope and the people involved at the start, so the work does not disturb your daily operations.
